Guided group tours dramatize the daring and determination it took for Columbus and his fellow explorers to set out on their mission. Experience the lives they led, interact with replicas of the navigational tools they used, and play the games they placed to pass the time. Their tours bring history to life and teach through the kind of real world experience your students just can't find anywhere else. It will be a day that none of you will ever forget and isn't that what learning is all about?

Highbanks Metro Park, located on N. 23 in Lewis Center is a great place to spend your weekend regardless of what you like to do. Highbanks offers a wide area to play around in and even has a Nature Center. You and your family can enjoy the beautiful scenery while having a picnic and with how open Highbanks is, you can easily play soccer, frisbee or even fly kites.
If you enjoy hiking or even just walking, you have seven different trails that you can take. I advise taking a camera as there are many beautiful scenes you may take advantage of that you will want to look back at later. Highbanks Metro Park also offers canoeing and fishing in various areas of the park and if you do not enjoy that I can guarantee you’ll be able to relax just as easily by the water. This National Natural Landmark boasts eleven miles of trails, two Adena Indian burial grounds, and prehistoric earthwork.

What We Do The goal of the American Cancer Society (ACS) is to prevent cancer, save lives, and diminish suffering from cancer.
Research The American Cancer Society is the largest source of private, not-for-profit cancer research funds in the United States, second only to the federal government in total dollars spent. The Society spent about $148 million on cancer research in FY 2008.
Since 1946, the Society has invested about $3.4 billion in cancer research. The research program consists of 3 components: extramural grants, intramural epidemiology and surveillance research, and the intramural behavioral research center.
Advocacy & Public Policy Cancer is a political issue. Every day, government policymakers make decisions that affect the lives of nearly 10 million cancer patients, survivors, their families, and all those at risk for developing cancer. To impact those decisions positively, the Society has identified advocacy as one of its top corporate priorities and works nationwide to promote beneficial policies, laws, and regulations for those affected by cancer.
Issues and Answers In concert with its cancer research, prevention, and control initiatives, the Society's advocacy initiatives strive to influence public policies with special emphasis on laws or regulations.
The local ACS chapter is located at 870 Michigan Ave. in Columbus. For more information call 614-324-5316 or visit www.oh.cancer.org. |
