Modified Flesh put on quite the party at the Gahanna Pub this past month with the bands “My Favorite Assassin”, last month’s featured band “One Pretty Minute” and “Idle Black”. Each band brought something to the night while tattoo artist extraordinaire Mike Thomas tattooed in the corner ever-so-brilliantly.
The night started off with “My Favorite Assassin”, who having just heard for the first time that night was blown away. Of course one of my favorite local bands “One Pretty Minute” did what they do best and that is bringing the heat in the second set kicking off with my favorite song “Tornado”. “Idle Black”, the closing band whom I had just heard for the first time was equally impressive. Covering some crowd favorites as well as playing some of their own brew of songs, they ended the night with an absolute bang.

Highball Halloween has been called, “A cross between Carnivale and Mardi Gras with a pinch of Halloween and a healthy splash of the Short North's artistic spirit.” and rightfully so. Highball Halloween is an annual event held on Halloween this year in the Short North and is nothing short of fun. There is a contest for the most outrageous costume in which everyone may enter, as well as a Couture Costume Fashion showdown for fashion professionals. The events also include something called the “Dogtober Howloween Procession” which allows dog owners to dress their pooches in ridiculous outfits and parade them around. There are also live bands that will play as well as the areas hottest DJs. Prizes will also be awarded throughout the days events. Highball Halloween will take place directly on High St from 3rd Ave. through 5th Ave. under the Short North Arches.

The TerrorFest is an annual Halloween event in which unsuspecting ‘customers’ will be frightened to death through two separate attractions.
As taken from the TerrorFest website:
“The House of Nightmares: Experience the tangled and twisted house of D R Frightner. From the opulence of the ballroom and library to the dingy asylum and operating room this state of the art attraction puts you into the demented nightmares experienced by one of the nation's first serial killers.
The Brewery Butcher: Can you survive the gruesome mystery of the Brewery Butcher? During the heyday of Columbus' thriving brewery district The Butcher murdered more than 38 people! Now he's back and he's waiting for you! Visit the brewery along with the many crypts that encase his victims.”
General admission for this event is $17 and a VIP Fast Pass is $27. By filling out the form on their website, you will receive a coupon for $2 off a general admission $4 off the VIP admission.
TerrorFest is located behind 477 S Front St. in downtown Columbus. For more information, please visit, www.theterrorfest.com. |
